I-CAR debuts new blueprinting training course

Oct. 13, 2012

NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 13, 2012—I-CAR this week premiered a new live demonstration course, Blueprinting Process and Damage Discovery (BLU01), during the Technology Showcase at the 2012 NACE Expo.

I-CAR’s new course provides interactive training that defines the blueprinting process in shops. The course demonstrates proper disassembly and blueprinting techniques on actual vehicles to help students uncover hidden damage that can affect the repair process.

Students learn how the blueprinting process can improve quality, increase efficiency and productivity, and reduce supplements through a standardized approach to repair planning.

“This is the best I-CAR class I’ve attended. I couldn’t imagine how this would not benefit any tech or shop employee,” said Rich Southerland of ALLDATA, one of several course attendees.

I-CAR said the Blueprinting Process and Damage Discovery course will officially become available for technicians Oct. 29. Completion of the four-credit training initiative fulfills Gold Class business requirements for non-structural technicians in the new technology knowledge area. I-CAR said it also fulfills ProLevel 3 training requirements for estimators and auto physical damage appraisers.

This is the seventh consecutive year that I-CAR has brought the Technology Showcase to the NACE Expo, but the first time the organization has offered a training class on the show floor.
