Education foundation awards grant to Applied Center for Technology

May 10, 2012

May 10, 2012— The Collision Repair Education Foundation has selected the Applied Center for Technology in Rock Hill, S.C., to get more than $50,000 worth of tools, equipment and supplies.

The school has received this donation as part of the education foundation’s 2011 Ultimate Collision Education Makeover grant program, which benefits technical and vocational colleges. The Applied Center for Technology was selected from more than 70 applicants.

Collision instructor Mark Dellinger applied for the grant. He wrote in his application that he wants students to be competitive and successful in this industry.

“My goal is to have this shop stay ahead of the curve in order to provide my students the best opportunity possible to enter this industry and successfully remain in it,” he wrote. “I am continually seeking creative ways to enrich the opportunities for my students.”

Ingersoll Rand is a donor that provides support for the grant program. “There are some basic tools — like impact wrenches, ratchets, grinders and sanders — that students need in order to get a quality, hands-on education,” said Nate Schmid, Ingersoll Rand vehicle services marketing manager.

The school will be celebrating their gift on May 17 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
