Subaru Forester SUVs Recalled

Oct. 15, 2019

Subaru is recalling over 365,000 of its Forester SUVs because an electrical connection under the front seat cushion may become loose.

Oct. 15, 2019—Subaru is recalling certain 2015–18 Forester SUVs because an electrical connection under the front seat cushion may become loose. This can cause the front air bag to deactivate even if someone is sitting in the front seat, reported Consumer Reports.

The recall affects Subarus with heated seats.

Over time the connection in the electrical harness for the occupant detection system (ODS) sensor mat may become loose. This mat determines if the seat is occupied and, if so, tells the system to make the air bag active.

Subaru is recalling 366,282 vehicles. Owners will be notified of the recall starting Nov. 29.
