GEICO Joins Insurers Offering Telematics

GEICO has joined the ranks of insurance carriers using telematics to track and improve driving behavior.

Aug. 5, 2019—GEICO has joined the ranks of carriers using telematics to track and improve driving behavior, according to a report by the Insurance Journal.

GEICO has been an insurer without a usage-based insurance program. Now, it is testing a smartphone app called DriveEasy that gives drivers feedback and assigns them a score.

It's on the new CEO, Bill Roberts', watch that GEICO is rolling out its telematics program. DriveEasy is being made available to selected customers this summer for a 6-month trial period, according to GEICO’s website.
