Sept. 7, 2018—Tesla Inc. chief accounting officer Dave Morton has resigned from the company. Morton served in that role for just one month.
The company announced the news in an 8K filing, but did not elaborate with any reactionary comments to Morton’s decision.
In a statement, Morton noted that he resigned because of “the level of public attention placed on the company. Since I joined Tesla on August 6, the level of public attention placed on the company, as well as the pace within the company, have exceeded my expectations.
“As a result,” Morton added, “this caused me to reconsider my future. I want to be clear that I believe strongly in Tesla, its mission, and its future prospects, and I have no disagreements with Tesla’s leadership or its financial reporting.”
CNBC reported on Friday that Tesla’s stock had promptly dropped more than 5 percent in the wake of Morton’s announcement.
