Oct. 19, 2017—On Oct. 6, Clay Hoberecht, owner of Best Body Shop in Wichita, Kan., uploaded a video to Facebook in which he states that Farmers Insurance wanted to shop to complete repairs on a 2016 Ford Fusion with aftermarket parts exclusively.

In the eight and a half minute video, Hoberecht shows how poorly the aftermarket hood fits on the vehicle and how the vehicle's body lines don't match up.

He then called the insurance agent that the shop was working with for this repair job to let them know that the aftermarket parts didn't meet the OEM parts in "quality, fitment and performance."

The insurance agent proceeded to give Hoberecht a list of other body shops in his area that would perform the work with aftermarket parts.

Hoberecht stood by his decision to use only OEM parts for the vehicle and was then informed by the insurance company to take up any fit issues with the aftermarket parts vendor.

Following the release of this video, Farmers Insurance agreed to the use of OEM parts on the vehicle.

Farmers did not repond to FenderBender before the publishing on this article. We will update it if they do.
