Porsche Invests in Start-up to Improve AV Safety

Aug. 23, 2019—Porsche has acquired a minority stake in Israeli firm TriEye, according to CNBCPorsche aims to improve autonomous vehicle safety features.

Tel Aviv-based start-up TriEye specializes in short-wave infrared (SWIR) cameras.  It has developed a semi-conductor design that can be used to manufacture high definition short-wave infrared cameras “at a fraction of their current cost.”

The technology has the capacity to boost safety with the ability to "see" in poor visibility conditions such as rain, fog or dust. TriEye was set up in 2017.
