Aug. 14, 2019—A key Fiat Chrysler Automobiles executive says the company has a solution for what's known as the Jeep “Death Wobble."
FCA will install a new steering damper, a part also known as a stabilizer, in affected Jeep Wranglers in an effort to address the steering wheel vibration reported by some owners after their vehicles hit a bump at highway speeds, according to The Detroit Free Press.
The issue is the subject of a lawsuit in federal court in Detroit. "Death Wobble" is a dramatic-sounding term, but FCA said it is not aware of fatalities or injuries caused by the phenomenon.
