June 6, 2019—Toyota recently told U.S. dealers that tariffs on Mexican imports could cost suppliers as much as $1.07 billion, according to a report by CNBC.
The news comes from an email obtained by the Reuters news service.
The email, dated June 3, from Toyota’s North American sales chief, Bob Carter, also told dealers that 65 percent of the Tacoma midsize pickup trucks the Japanese automakers plans to sell in the U.S. market in 2019 will be imported from its plant in Baja, Mexico.
