Feb. 26, 2019—The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently recognized companies who have proactively released voluntary safety self-assessments and for their commitment to prioritizing safety and strengthening public trust in Automated Driving Systems.
Since late 2018, Apple, Bosch, Mercedes-Benz, Navya, Starsky Robotics, and Zoox have joined Ford, General Motors, Nuro, Nvidia, Uber and Waymo on the list of organizations that have taken this step.
The Department’s Automated Driving Systems 2.0: A Vision for Safety outlines a 12-point voluntary safety self-assessment that companies are encouraged to consider and publicly release to promote public confidence in ADS technologies.
