Dec. 17, 2018—For technical reasons, a repair of alloy wheels is not permitted according to Porsche guidelines. According to the current workshop manual, a rim repair is only allowed for paint damage on the surface, and once the damage is in the base material (metal), repair is not allowed.
It is often difficult for the Porsche Center to determine whether rims were repaired or remanufactured by third parties contrary to the repair specifications when vehicles are traded in or purchased.
To develop alloy wheels, Porsche focuses on weight reduction and performance. Porsche uses the flow-forming process to produce the rims in order to achieve the lowest wall thickness combined with maximum stability.
