May 21, 2018—A bill in the New York Senate would make it a felony to stage an auto accident.

The bill, Senate Bill 421, is moving to the New York State Assembly. It would make the crime a class B, C, or D felony depending on prior criminal history, specifics of the staged incident or death occurred.

The bill is also known as Alice's Law after a 71-year-old grandmother, Alice Ross, died in a premeditated accident in 2003, reported Times Ledger.
