July 21, 2016—General Motors announced that it plans to recall 307,000 North American vehicles for an airbag issue that could prevent deployment in the event of a collision, according to a report from Automotive News.
The recall involves 2009-2010 Impala models where the front passenger seat frame could rub against electrical wires, causing the airbag fuse to short. GM reported that there were two injuries linked to the defect.
Dealers will add abrasion tape to the wires to prevent damage.
