CARSTAR VP Named to NABC Board

April 23, 2014

April 23, 2014—The National Auto Body Council (NABC) announced on Tuesday the appointment of CARSTAR senior vice president of insurance Dan Young to its board of directors.

Young will complete a two-year term vacated by Mark Lovell of LKQ Corporation.

As part of his responsibilities on the NABC board, Young will also serve as chair of NABC’s Distracted Driving Initiative, an intra-collision industry effort to educate young drivers on the dangers of inattentive and distracted driving.

Young has been with CARSTAR for 10 years. He oversees the national and regional insurance relationships, national insurance program initiatives, claims management, and data analysis. Prior to joining CARSTAR, he spent 20 years with Allstate in claims, sales, and risk management.

“We are delighted to welcome Dan to our board of directors,” NABC executive director Chuck Sulkala said.  “Dan’s considerable industry experience from both the collision repair as well as insurance perspectives will be invaluable in helping NABC enhance community service programs that our membership can use to make a positive impact in their local communities.”

Sulkala also thanked Mark Lovell for his years of service to the National Auto Body Council. Lovell had to step down from the board due to increased business commitments.

A number of CARSTAR shops nationwide are current NABC members and annually host successful Recycled  Rides and First Responder Emergency Extrication programs in their local communities. CARSTAR and NABC also recently partnered with AT&T to support and promote the nationwide It Can Wait campaign, aimed at encouraging teen drivers to take the pledge to not text and drive.

”I have been a long-time supporter of NABC and its initiatives to give back and help those in need,” Young said. “I am honored to have an opportunity to work with my colleagues on the board of directors, all of whom are committed to NABC’s mission to identify and implement programs that promote a positive image of our collision industry.”
