Edmunds.com cites 6 non-hybrid vehicles that get 40 MPG

March 28, 2011

March 28, 2011 Five new vehicles from model years 2011 and 2012 join the Smart Fourtwo as vehicles that get at least 40 miles per gallon (MPG), according to Edmunds.com

The 2011 Chevy Cruze Eco, the 2011 Ford Fiesta SE SFE, the 2012 Ford Focus SFE, the 2012 Honda Civic HF and 2011 Hyundai Elantra all get 40 MPG on the highway. The Smart Fourtwo achieved 40 MPG with its 2010 model.

Edmunds.com cited the recent spike in gas prices as a major reason consumers are focused on their vehicles' gas consumption.

"The 40 MPG Club is getting a whole lot bigger in the U.S. at just the right time, when gasoline is regularly topping $4 per gallon in many parts of the country,” said Edmunds.com Associate Editor Scott Doggett. "These cars are great choices for consumers who want better fuel economy but aren’t ready to make the switch to hybrid or electric vehicles."
