March 30, 2011 — The Certified Automotive Parts Association (CAPA) announced Tuesday that it has now certified almost 47 million parts.
“That’s great news for the American consumer and those repairers looking to contain repair costs without compromising quality,” said Jack Gillis, executive director of CAPA. “We expect to cross the 50 million mark in 2011.”
CAPA’s certifications have grown steadily each year since 1990. As of December 2010, the organization had certified 46.97 million parts, according to a recent press release_notes. Forty manufacturers from North America and Asia have met CAPA’s certification standards for aftermarket parts.
The organization tracks certification information with unique electronic barcodes and numbers placed on each part.
