J.D. Power to release_notes insurance co. rankings; Amica Mutual was No. 1 in 2009

July 14, 2010—J.D. Power and Associates will be releasing the rankings for the 2010 best and worst auto insurance providers at the end of July.

Last year’s study showed that Amica Mutual clinched the No. 1 spot for the 10th consecutive year, while AIG came in last.

The information for the rankings was compiled through annual customer surveys and the rankings were based on overall customer satisfaction across a variety of categories.

The top five providers for 2009 were:
1. Amica Mutual
2. State Farm
3. Shelter
4. Auto-Owners
5. Erie Insurance

The bottom five providers for 2009 were:
1. Travelers
2. Commerce
3. 21st Century
4. GMAC
5. AIG
