March 29, 2017—Chuck Sulkala, a past chairman of the I-CAR International Board of Directors, was recently honored with the Lifetime Contribution Award in recognition of years of dedicated leadership and service to the organization and the collision industry as a whole. The award was presented at the I-CAR Volunteer and Instructor Conference in La Jolla, Calif.

Sulkala’s “knowledge of the industry, I-CAR and overall governance makes him a tremendous asset,” said I-CAR International board of directors chairman Jim Roach.

Since taking over his family-owned business 45 years ago, Sulkala has held a number of industry leadership roles, including chairman of I-CAR Canada, president of the Massachusetts Auto Body Association, chairman of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists, chairman of the Collision Industry Conference, and founder of the National Auto Body Council.

As a speaker and consultant, Sulkala has been featured at the annual NACE event on more than 10 occasions. Sulkala’s past honors include being named Man of the Year by the Massachusetts Auto Body Association and also earning an Industry Achievement Award from SCRS.

“Chuck has always been willing to go the extra mile for our industry,” said I-CAR CEO and president John Van Alstyne.
