Sept. 30, 2011—Nissan North America Inc. on Thursday announced it is expanding availability of the all-electric Nissan LEAF.
Orders for the 2012 Nissan LEAF, which includes additional standard equipment such as quick charging and cold-weather features, are now available for people with existing reservations in Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey and New York. Nissan said it will open new reservations and orders to the general public Oct. 3.
Deliveries of the LEAF in those markets will happen by December, according to Nissan.
"Consumers have spoken, and it's clear that they are looking for a car that produces zero emissions and uses no gas," said Brian Carolin, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Nissan North America. "We are seeing tremendous consumer interest in the Nissan LEAF in these new markets, particularly in the New York metropolitan area."
Nissan said it will continue to expand into additional new markets. The Nissan LEAF will be available for order in Delaware, Indiana, Louisiana, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island by year-end.
