SUBJECT: GM has issued a recall to replace a faulty crankshaft position sensor on certain vehicles. The sensor may fail while the engine is running, causing rough running or stalling and SES light illumination. It may also fail intermittently or permanently, causing a no-start condition. Not all vehicles are affected, and the bulletin includes a list of VINs. GM dealers will replace the sensor at no charge to the owner, and may reimburse owners who have already paid for the repair. SUBJECT: MIL illumination with code P129F or P310B indicates problems with the fuel pressure sensor on the low-pressure side of the fuel injection system. Improperly built sensors were installed on some vehicles, and fuel is getting into the electrical portion of the sensor and causing faulty readings. SUBJECT: Tapping or scraping noise at the rear wheel may be caused by a loose axle nut. If this is the case, both axle nuts should be replaced with new parts (10257766) using LOCTITE 272 and torqued to 160 ft.-lbs. SUBJECT: MIL illumination with fuel trim codes P0171 or P2187 indicates the engine is too lean at idle. The problem may be caused by deformation of the air filter housing, making it impossible to install the air filter element correctly. This causes an incorrect mass airflow reading. SUBJECT: Momentary activation of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and MIL illumination with codes P0340, P0344 or P0116 may be caused by a PCM software problem. The ESP indicator lamp may or may not illuminate, and the driver may notice a lack of throttle response.
