Other prizes will also be awarded.
Candidates are nominated via a 250-word essay submitted to Arrow’s website. Entrants include, but are not limited to, truck drivers who have faced loss or unfortunate circumstances beyond their control or drivers “who have selflessly advocated for the profession and the trucking industry in general.”
The winner will be announced at the March 22-24Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky.
“This program enables a fresh start to a driver’s career in the trucking industry, and Michelin is proud, once again, to play a part in getting someone back on the road in 2012,” says Jaye Young, MATT’s marketing manager. “It is very moving each year to see the hope and financial opportunity that this program offers the winner.”
As a part of the sponsorship, donations from MATT will include the XZA3+ Evertread steer tire and the X One XDA Energy drive tire. The winning trucker will also be enrolled in the Michelin’s Advantage Program.
“I can’t thank Michelin enough for sponsoring this program,” says David Acosta, who won last year’s Back on the Road contest.
“I have found the Michelin X One tires to be extremely durable; they wear real well and last a lot longer than other tires,” he reports. “I hope that any hard-working driver who’s looking for a second chance considers applying this year.”Founded in 1950, Arrow started as a small used truck lot in Kansas City, Mo. It has since expanded to 17 sales outlets in the U.S. and Canada.
