Michelin is reporting steady growth for its Advantage Program as more small trucking fleets and owner- operators are signing up for the free service.

Memberships were up nearly 60 percent during the first half of this year after the tire maker opened the program to owner-operators in March. A promotional effort is currently underway at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas.

“Trucking professionals across the industry are realizing the benefits of having a direct relationship with Michelin,” says Fritz Mueller, who manages the segment.

“The Michelin Advantage Program is available to all fleets under 100 trucks, including the owner-operator ‘one-truck fleet,’ to gain an advantage and have the ability to control their costs, save time, protect their equipment investment and improve their safety,” he explains.

It provides the same pricing on both tires and retreads at home or on the road. Purchases can be made with any Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card.

Program members have access to the company’s ONCall emergency road service with no dispatch fee. Using the anytime, any-day service by calling 800-TIRE-911, customers can get their trucks back on the road quickly, saving them critical time and money, according to Mueller.

Members also receive unique access to the tire maker’s Commercial Service Network, “which provides consistent, high-quality service from network dealers with highly trained technicians, professional equipment and casing management – all ensured by rigorous certification and audit standards,” he says.

Additional resources are offered on the program’s website along with training information and maintenance tips. Regular e-newsletters offer product updates and promotions, while quarterly webcasts provide advice to members on maintaining safe truck operations.
