Wheel maker Accuride embarking upon several product initiatives

Accuride Corp. will be participating in the Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW) Conference at the Mirage Convention Center in Las Vegas starting Jan. 23.

The company is to exhibit its products and host a press briefing to discuss the investments it is making to better meet the needs of the marketplace.

At its briefing on Tues., Jan. 24 at 2 p.m., Accuride President and CEO Rick Dauch will share exclusive announcements regarding changes being made to expand capacity, enhance quality and serve customer needs. The company will also be exhibiting its latest steel and aluminum wheel and wheel-end product offerings at Booth No. 626 during the conference.

“We’re excited to showcase our extensive product portfolio and share details of our capital investment plans for 2012 and beyond at the HDAW Conference,” says Dauch.

“Accuride continues to make significant investments to upgrade our manufacturing equipment and process technologies to better meet customer demands and serve the needs of the heavy-duty aftermarket,” he adds.

 

PAGE 2 As the industry’s only single source supplier to offer steel wheels, aluminum wheels and wheel end components, Accuride will showcase several key products at HDAW: Aluminum wheels featuring Ultra-Enhanced Finish – which results in a gloss far superior to competitive wheels; A wheel-end display that will include aluminum wheels, steel wheels, brake drums and hubs, demonstrating its full range of wheel-end components; and

  • A fuel tank from the company’s Imperial unit, which manufactures truck body and chassis components.
  • Jd Marhevko has joined the company as vice president of quality, reporting to David Adams, senior vice president and chief technical officer.

    She brings more than 25 years of quality control experience to her new role, which involves developing and implementing systems and procedures for the divisions that comply with TS, ISO/QS and customer requirements, and will work with her team to build technical resources and skill levels.V Marhevko previously worked at Global Productivity Solutions, a Lean Six Sigma Consulting firm, where she recently helped a Fortune 50 company develop its quality strategy. Prior to that, she spent six years as the vice president of quality assurance and process excellence for the test and measurement unit of SPX. She also held earlier operations management roles with Eaton, Cincinnati Milacron and Robert Bosch.V

    An American Society of Quality (ASQ) Fellow, Marhevko holds multiple ASQ certifications, including Certified Quality Manager, Quality Engineer, and Six Sigma Black Belt. She earned her master’s degree in Manufacturing Plant Management from Central Michigan University and bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Oakland University.

    Gerald Merhar is now onboard as manager of supplier quality and development, reporting to Mary Blair, senior vice president of supply chain management.

    With more than 15 years of experience in the field, Merhar will establish supplier quality and development processes aimed at improving performance across the company’s global supply chain.

    He is responsible for establishing Accuride’s supplier quality and development processes, including a Supplier Scorecard; establishing Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and Customer Incident due to Vendor (CIV) reporting systems; and ensuring that suppliers comply with customer and Accuride quality standards.

    Merhar joined the company from UCI’s FRAM division in Chicago, where he had recently served as supplier quality and development engineering manager and led its global SQ&D team. He has prior related experience at Honeywell and the Wheland Foundry. Merhar earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University and is pursuing an MBA from Regis University. He is an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
