Hankook received more than 44,000 entries for its Great Catch 2011 Ford Explorer Limited Giveaway contest. The grand prize winner is Teresa Holder, a 56-year-old information technology specialist from of Jonesboro, Ind.
Company President Soo II Lee presented Holder with the keys to her new vehicle in an on-field ceremony prior to the Aug. 30 Detroit Tigers game against the Kansas City Royals at Comerica Park.

“I’m really excited to have won,” says Holder. “This is an amazing prize from Hankook, and I definitely know what kind of tires I’ll be buying from now on!”

In addition to clinching the new vehicle, Holder especially enjoyed being up close and personal on the field with the Tiger players.

Following the pre-game presentation, Holder and her husband joined Lee in a VIP suite to watch a dramatic pitchers duel culminating in a 10th inning walk-off homer by the Tigers’ Ramon Santiago.

Holder received an autographed baseball from Tigers right fielder Magglio Ordonez, who had driven in the tying run that set the stage for the 2-1 Detroit victory. The Motor City cats remain atop the American League’s Central Division heading down the September stretch.

The Great Catch Giveaway is Hankook’s third baseball- themed promotion in the past two years.

Lee says it has been “enormously successful” as U.S. sales continue to grow. The company’s promotions, along with its growing presence in Major League baseball parks around the country, “demonstrate its continued commitment to building its brand awareness among American consumers,” he observes.

“We’re focused on investing in promotions, marketing and sponsorship opportunities, allowing us to engage consumers on our way to furthering our status as a top- tier tire company in the U.S.,” says Lee.

The Explorer Limited comes factory-fitted with the new Optimo H426 luxury performance touring all-season tires.

The tire includes a unique rib-block design and silica rubber compound to provide a quiet, comfortable ride, according to Lee. With its lower rolling resistance and superior tread, the tire provides impressive all-season performance traction and better fuel economy, he adds.

Building on the success of the Great Catch campaign, Hankook has launched its fall baseball-themed Great Hit promotion with an increase in the rebate offer. Customers who buy four select tires through Nov. 30 will be eligible for a mail-in rebate of up to $80.

Rebate tires include the ultra-high performance Ventus V12 evo, the Optimo H426 and the performance touring all-season Optimo H727.

In addition, the company is fielding its Great Hit car giveaway promotion that will award the big winner with a 2012 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Sedan. No purchase is necessary.
