Toyo is now sponsoring Ultimate Fight Club
middleweight fighter Mark Munoz. Nicknamed "The
Filipino Wrecking Machine," Munoz has a 10-2-0
record; he will face Brazilian Demian Maia on June
11 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada.
The 6-foot-tall, 33-year-old Munoz weighs 185
pounds. A former wrestling coach at the University
of California at Davis, Munoz specializes in both
wrestling and Muay Thai. He will wear the Toyo logo
on his fighting gear while also promoting the
company’s tires through personal appearances and
other marketing efforts.
“I am honored to be part of the Toyo Tires team,”
says Munoz. “As a professional athlete, I am driven
to perform and having the support of a great company
like Toyo Tires just motivates me even more.”
“We are excited to have Mark Munoz represent Team
Toyo for 2011,” says Stan Chen, manager of events
and motorsports. “Munoz is a popular fighter in the
sport of mixed martial arts and will represent the
Toyo Tires brand well.”
“We are very fortunate to have a great partner like
Toyo Tires. Toyo Tires is an exceptional company and
Mark Munoz is an exceptional athlete,” says Jeff
Meyer, CEO of MMA, Inc., the fighter’s management
firm. “The support Mark receives from Toyo Tires
enables him to focus on training and increasing his
performance in the octagon. It is a great
combination.”
Munoz is the second MMA fighter to be sponsored by
Team Toyo this year; UFC lightweight Anthony
“Showtime” Pettis joined the squad in March.
