Amid much “banging and shoving” near the front of the pack on the opening lap, General Tire’s Carl Renezeder took second place in the Pro 2 class during the recent Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series dustup at California’s Glen Helen course.

The competition quickly erupted into a raucous rollover that temporarily stopped the race. Once the action continued, Renezeder held fast in the top five, moving into third place. An intense battle between Renezeder and Greg Adler unfolded.

Only six trucks finished the full 20-lap distance, with Renezeder taking second, Adler third, Ampudia fourth, Mike Johnson fifth and Dale Dondel sixth.

“Carl did a great job,” says Spencer Robinson, General’s events coordinator. “His rollover in Pro 4 after being in the lead was disappointing, but he completely got right back on top and brought home a podium finish in Pro 2 for Team GT.”

The dust soared for freestyle MX rider and MX Baja racer Jeff “Ox” Kargola in his first foray into off-road competition as he took on an arduous short-course to bring home third place in the Superlite class.

After a tough race during Round 9 on Saturday, Kargola had to start at the back of the pack and battle his way to the front. Dawson Kirchner took the first lead, but was thrown into third after a pile-up, trailing Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg in first and Kargola in second.

Neck-and-neck for the majority of the race with Stenberg, a fellow Metal Mulisha racer, Kargola battled it out for a lead position. Holding a solid second, he stuttered on the fourth turn and was overtaken by CJ Greaves, pushing him into third place.

Kargola placed third for his first time on General’s debut Grabber street tires. He was trailed by Kirchner in fourth and Team GT racer Chad Leising in fifth, both running on Grabber At2 tires.

“We are so excited with Ox’s podium finish. “It was an extremely tight course, but he managed to podium in his first ever off-road series,” notes Dana Zamalloa, General’s public relations manager. “It was very impressive to see him go from the back of the pack to the front in just a few rounds, and we are looking forward to many more podium finishes with Ox on our team this season.”
