Driver Carey Hart of PMG Racing is joining Team General Tire to run in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series, making his debut this weekend the at Nevada’s Primm Valley Motorsports Complex.
Hart will compete in the Unlimited 2 class on General’s Grabber competition tires in size 35x12.50R17.
“We are pumped to have Carey joining Team General Tire for the upcoming short-course season,” says Dana Zamalloa, the company’s public relations and communications manager. “Carey has an aggressive driving style and ambitious personality; he is a perfect fit for Team GT.”
Hart began his career as a teenager in amateur motocross. He is noted for performing the first-ever full back-flip, dubbed the “Hart Attack,” on a 250cc motorcycle at the 2000 Gravity Games. More recently, Hart has opened a chain of tattoo parlors and become a television personality.
“We are building an incredible off-road team for 2009, and we are excited to have him onboard,” Zamalloa reports.
“I’m really looking forward to conquering another aspect of racing,” says Hart. “Racing is my passion, and short-course is the next logical step in my career.”
General’s new short course tire, the Grabber SC, is designed for Unlimited 2 and Unlimited 4 drivers. Engineered with a three-ply Duragen-reinforced body construction to stand up to the rigors of off-road conditions, it also features a newly-developed competition-specific tread compound, according to Zamalloa. The Grabber name and General Tire logo are prominently featured on the sidewall in red and white letters.
The short-course release is a sister tire to the Grabber desert model, available in size 37x12.50R17 for class 8 and trophy truck/trick truck and 35x12.50R17 for class 1, 6, 7, 7 S, stock mini and Protruck.
General also has a line of Grabbers for the passenger car and light truck market.
