Kicking off its support of the trucking industry during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, the Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) raised more than $1,000 for Trucker Buddy International as TRIB’s managing director, David Stevens, competed in the Sept. 11 Nation’s Triathlon in Washington, D.C.
Members of the organization also made online financial contributions.
“It was an honor to be racing in our nation’s capital on such an important day,” says Stevens.
“I’m really proud of the support we received from TRIB members that allowed us to help Trucker Buddy and show our appreciation for the hard work truckers do and for the great work Trucker Buddy does for them and for our schools,” he points out.
“We at Trucker Buddy are proud to not only be supported by such a fine organization like the Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau, but also proud to have someone like David represent Trucker Buddy in the triathlon,” according to the nonprofit organization dedicated to helping educate and mentor schoolchildren via a pen pal relationship between professional truck drivers and students in kindergarten through the eighth grade.
“His dedication and effort to accomplish a goal like this is one that all of us can learn from and be encouraged to set goals in our own lives. Thank you, David and all the TRIB members who contributed to helping young students excel and professional drivers give back to their communities and industry.”
Trucker Buddy matches classes and truck drivers so that the students’ skills in reading, writing, geography, math, social studies and history are enhanced and learning is made fun.
