Making inroads into the Latin American marketplace, the Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) will be manning a booth at the July 20-23 Latin American & Caribbean Tyre Expo in Panama City, Panama.

“We’ll be there promoting the retread and repair industries to attendees from a large and rapidly growing part of the global tire market,” says managing director David Stevens. “If you’re unable to attend the show but are interested in the Latin American market, it’s not too late for members to send us promotional materials you would like us to hand out at the show,” he notes.

In addition, TRIB is increasing the size of its current board of directors from 12 to 16 members. The additional four board positions will be held by three retreading companies and one tire repair company.

A nominating committee has been formed within the current board of directors and potential nominees will be selected in the coming months; the new members will be elected at the Oct. 31 annual gathering in Las Vegas.

“We felt it was a good time to expand the board to further represent the interests of our many retread and repair member companies,” says TRIB President Bob Majewski. “We look forward to reviewing potential nominees and adding to the strength of our board during our meeting in Las Vegas.”

In other TRIB news, Stevens is reporting that he will be competing in the Sept. 11 Nation’s Triathlon in Washington, D.C. in support of Trucker Buddy International.

TRIB is soliciting contributions for the non- profit organization, which promotes pen pal relationships between professional truck drivers and school children to make learning more fun in subjects such as reading, writing, geography, mathematics, social studies and history.

“It’s a fun way to leverage the power of our members to support Trucker Buddy’s great organization and deliver a higher level of donations than we could on our own,” Stevens points out.

“Plus,” he adds, “ it’s great motivation in training for the 32-mile swim/bike/run knowing that the effort will go into supporting Trucker Buddy and the more than 2,300 truckers and 60,000 students that participate in the program.”

“TRIB has been a longtime supporter of Trucker Buddy and we are excited about David including us in his bid to compete in the Nation’s Triathlon,” says executive director Randy Schwartzenburg.

“The drivers, students and teachers of our organization are grateful for the creative support. Both organizations are fulfilling the missions of improving the image and education of the trucking industry,” he explains. “We are proud to work with TRIB.”
