Joe Kovac of Kovac Automotive in Davie, Fla., has been named the 2010 Goodyear Gatorback Club Grand Prize winner.

Annually, the Goodyear Engineered Products Installer Rewards program from Veyance Technologies sends one lucky winner and a guest to a NASCAR race of their choice. Veyance, who manufacturers all Goodyear Engineered Products, is the exclusive NASCAR Performance licensee of automotive aftermarket belts and hose.

Kovac selected the June Sprint Cup race at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., citing two very good reasons: “First, I’ve never seen a NASCAR road course live. Second, NASCAR and wine country – what could be better than that?”

Kovac couldn’t believe it when he got the call that he had won. “I thought someone was pulling a prank on me. I never thought I’d be a winner.” He is an avid follower of NASCAR and has attended several races in the past but doesn’t follow a particular driver or team. Kovac says he prefers to focus on the action come race day. “I like an exciting race, and Sonoma should provide it.”

Kovac has been a member of the Gatorback Club since 2008 and enjoys the ease of the club and the friendliness of its staff. “With some rewards clubs you’re just a number, but with the Gatorback Club, I appreciate the fact that I can talk to a real person.” Kovac said he likes the variety of gift cards and the collectible die cast car adorned in a Gatorback Club motif.

The Gatorback belts used every weekend on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series are the same belts Kovac uses at his shop and installs on his customers’ passenger vehicles. “The track-to-street connection and technology that goes into every Gatorback belt is something my customers appreciate.”

Gatorback Club members earn an entry into the NASCAR drawing every time they redeem 10,000 points for using Goodyear Engineered Products throughout the year. Kovac is very active in the club and earned three entries overall. Installers earn points from Goodyear Gatorback Poly-V belts, V-belts, timing belts, timing belt kits, tensioners and air springs. In addition, Club members receive timely communications on new products, preventative maintenance materials, tech tips, and additional opportunities for rewards.

Not only does Kovac continue to earn points in the club, with this trip he’s earning points with his wife Cheryl, too. “She’s the one who’s always wanted to go to wine country!”
