Jiffy Lube will donate $1.35 million to the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement, raised through the Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life campaign.

In its second year, the campaign raised funds through customer donations at participating Jiffy Lube service centers across the U.S. Funds raised during the six-week campaign this year exceeded the total amount raised in 2008, and in a shorter period of time, the company states. In 2008, the campaign raised more than $1 million for the cause over a two-month period.

“We owe the success of the campaign to our customers, who demonstrated tremendous generosity and support despite these tough economic times, and our dedicated employees who got behind the campaign once again this year,” says John Sanfacon, head of Marketing and Innovations at Jiffy Lube International. “Though we were just shy of our $1.5 million fundraising goal, we’re proud that Jiffy Lube can contribute so significantly in the fight against heart disease.  We look forward to continuing our support through Maintenance Partners for Life in 2010.”

More than 1,700 Jiffy Lube service centers participated in the Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life campaign, which raised awareness and funds for heart disease prevention. In return for a $3 donation, customers received a Maintenance Partners for Lifesavings book with more than $100 in savings from Jiffy Lube, Perfumania and Yankee Candle, and heart-healthy recipes and lifestyle tips. Funds will be donated to local American Heart Association chapters in the communities in which they are raised.

“We are ecstatic that Jiffy Lube is making such a large contribution once again, surpassing the impressive $1 million the Maintenance Partners for Life campaign raised last year,” says Lyn Hughes, vice president of national corporate relations for the American Heart Association.

“Major contributions such as this one are very important to funding our mission since the economy can impact how much people donate to charities. In addition, this partnership has been hugely successful in speaking to consumers about how simple choices can make a difference in maintaining the health of your heart and your vehicle.”

To acknowledge extraordinary dedication to the campaign, Jiffy Lube International created a special award recognizing the Jiffy Lube service center with the most outstanding performance in activating the campaign. This year’s winner is store #1270 in Arroyo Grande, Calif., owned by Jiffy Lube franchise Pcjl, Inc.

Employees raised more than $17,000 and 278.86 percent of vehicles serviced during the six-week campaign made a donation. To recognize this achievement, Jiffy Lube International (JLI) President Rick Altizer will present the service center with an award and make a $1,000 donation to the American Heart Association chapter in their community. The award honors Lisa Carlson, who served as the Global Marketing Director of JLI for five years, and was instrumental in the development of theMaintenance Partners for Life campaign, before passing away last year.
