Yokohama Tire Corp. is using America’s favorite pastime as the backdrop for several tire dealer and consumer promotional campaigns as the company has signed to be the official tire of two Triple-A minor league baseball teams, the Scranton Yankees and Memphis Redbirds. Each ballclub will offer prominent signage, multiple hospitality events and product displays. There will also be promotions centered on the teams and Yokohama, including in-store ticket giveaways and in-stadium contests. “The baseball sponsorships and promotions are designed to drive traffic to local dealers to enable them to sell more Yokohama tires,” says Dan King, the company’s vice president of sales. The baseball sponsorships follow Yokohama’s successful partnerships this season with three NBA teams: The San Antonio Spurs; the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors. Yokohama also partnered last season with three National Football League squads — the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Atlanta Falcons — plus UCLA and USC college football.
