Liquid Metal Motorsports has opened a new warehouse in
Texas to help anchor a key market for the California-
based wheel provider and one of its primary strategic
partners, the Discount Tire Co.
“The Dallas facility allows Liquid Metal to sustain our
continued growth,” says President Jimmy Owen, “as well
as align properly with key strategic partners in
developing our supply chain network.”
The 80,000-square-foot site in Grand Prairie, just
outside of Dallas, is owned by TMSi Logistics; its
recent purchase of Griffin Global Logistics, a third-
party supply chain firm, helped steer the project to
fruition.
“We are pleased to see that the Griffin acquisition is
already driving growth for all companies involved,” says
Ron Cain, TMSi’s chairman and CEO. “It is clear that our
relationship is on track to successfully achieve its
goal of developing and maintaining a values-driven,
performance-based culture that delivers results.”
The Grand Prairie site is the second location that
Griffin has opened around Liquid Metal in the past three
years; a 150,000-square-foot space was established in
2009. Although both facilities have been opened
initially around Liquid Metal, each allows for servicing
the warehouse needs of other TMSi clients.
Being at the Grand Prairie location “aligns with our
growth strategy to develop a national distribution
infrastructure anchored by regional facilities around
the country, which also provides a base for TMSi to
leverage Griffin’s domestic and international
transportation services into Central America,” explains
Russ Romine, Griffin’s former president who is now a
member of TMSi’s executive leadership team.
