Under 100-degree heat in Surprise, Ariz, Team General Tire’s drivers were well-represented on the podium following the Oct. 17-18 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series run.
On Saturday, Carl Renezeder took the Unlimited 4 win, following up with second place in Unlimited 2. On Sunday he fought a fuel pressure issue, but was still able to finish second. His showing was enough to keep him at the top in the points standings going into the season’s final Nov. 14-15 event in Primm, Nev.
In other action at Arizona’s Speedworld Off-Road Park, John Fitzgerald swept the limited buggy class while Kevin Probst battled Unlimited 2 competition on Sunday to net second-place honors.
“This was just an outstanding weekend for Team GT,” says Tony Talbert, General’s product manager for light trucks. “Our drivers are really going the distance, and getting us onto the podium. We couldn’t be prouder of Carl, John, Kevin and all our drivers for their awesome effort this weekend.”
We had a great weekend,” agrees Renezeder. “The races were so close, but the trucks were like rocketships out there and they hooked up like mad!”
General’s new Grabber Short Course tire, the Grabber SC, comes in size 35x12.50R17 for Unlimited 2 and Unlimited 4 drivers. Talbert says it has a three-ply Duragen-reinforced body construction “to stand up to the rigors of off-road conditions” along with a recently developed competition-specific tread compound.
The Grabber SC is the sister tire to the Grabber desert tire, which is size 37x12.50R17 for class 8 and trophy truck/trick truck; and 35x12.50R17 for class 1, 6, 7, 7 S, stock mini and Protruck.
There is also a Grabber line for cars and light trucks.
