China’s Auto Magazine has honored Goodyear’s Assurance tire with its 2008 “Annual Product of the Year Award.” The tire was introduced to the Chinese market in April.
“Goodyear strives to develop products for the exacting standards of today’s drivers,” says Michael Martens, managing director of North Asia for the company’s Asia Pacific region. “The receipt of awards such as this reinforces the fact that we are on track toward achieving our goal.”
The publication’s judging panel compared the Assurance with tires from Bridgestone, Hankook, BFGoodrich, Kumbo and Cooper, according to Martens.
The winning tire incorporates DuPont Kevlar fiber along with a silica-based Durawall sidewall compound to help resist cuts and tears. The company’s ArmorGrip Technology has an array of interlocking waffle blades and additional silica-based compounds within its tread, he says, which provides enhanced lateral stability and de-coupling power to assist grip over varied road conditions and on both wet and dry surfaces.
