Sept. 27, 2012—The National Auto Body Council (NABC) will donate six vehicles to families in need through its Recycled Rides program during the 2012 NACE Expo in New Orleans.
Recycled Rides is a national initiative in which NABC members refurbish vehicles for donation to families and service organizations in need of reliable transportation. Body shops, insurers, paint suppliers, parts vendors and rental car companies contribute labor and products for the refurbishing effort.
The vehicle donation during NACE will take place Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. in the NABC’s booth on the exhibition show floor, N1951. NACE is scheduled for Oct. 10-13 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
Four local shops in the New Orleans market donated their labor to refurbish the vehicles that will be donated during NACE, including Car Craft Collision Centers, Champ's Collision Centers, Collision Xperts and Fradella's Collision Center.
The NABC said four insurance companies donated the vehicles for refurbishing—Allstate, Esurance, GEICO, Progressive and State Farm. Enterprise Rent-A-Car donated a vehicle as well.
“The goal is to help people help themselves,” said Chuck Sulkala, the executive director of the NABC. “And all of the industry segments commit to playing a part in seeing that happens. Most that participate find it a life-changing experience.”
