April 13, 2017—PPG recently doled out awards to a pair of U.S. distributors: Southern Auto Color of Gainesville, Ga., and Tasco Auto Color of Houston. The two businesses were honored as Platinum Distributors of the Year. This marked the first time PPG has honored more than one distributor for the annual award.
The award was presented at the annual PPG Platinum Distributor Conference, held recently in Las Vegas. The PPG Platinum Distributor program began in 1995 as a loyalty and support initiative for PPG single-line distributors.
“While they differ in size, they were both standouts in their operations and execution, customer service and support. Southern and Tasco excelled in every area,” noted Bob Wenzinger, director of the PPG Platinum Distributor program.
Southern Auto Color was established in 1985 and today boasts 20 employees throughout four locations in Northeast Georgia.
Tasco Auto Color also won the aforementioned PPG honor in 2005. It has become the first Platinum Distributor to be honored twice by PPG. Tasco got its start in 1953, under the name of Barrington and Son Auto Parts. The business grew into a multi-store operation and now has over 300 employees over 25 locations spread throughout Texas, Louisiana and Tennessee.
