EC520 FAST-BAKE CLEAR NOW AVAILABLE FROM PPG DISTRIBUTORS

Sept. 1, 2017

Designed for use over ENVIROBASE® High Performance waterborne basecoat, PPG’s new EC520 En-V® High Production Clearcoat offers collision centers the opportunity to increase throughput and reduce cycle times in the paint booth.

Suitable for multi-panel repairs, EC520 incorporates PPG’s proprietary resin technology featured in its En-V series line, which according to PPG enables impressive gloss retention and film integrity. As the “speed” clear of the line, EC520 force-dries in 15 minutes at 140°F or 20 minutes at an energy-saving temperature of 120°F. If air drying, EC520 is ready for assembly in only 90 minutes to two hours and can be buffed after cool-down. Polishing is not required.

“The development goal of our En-V series was to create a platform of clearcoats that would set the standard for performance and appearance—with the flexibility to select a clear that best fits shop conditions while maximizing productivity,” explains Tim Jones, PPG manager, water collision segment, automotive refinish. “The introduction of EC520 fills the need for a super fast clear and completes our En-V series line. Given the very positive feedback we’re receiving from our Envirobase High Performance users, we’re confident our goal has been achieved.”

Also available in PPG’s En-V series line are EC530 En-V Performance Clearcoat and EC550 En-V Ultra Gloss Clearcoat. Four temperature-specific reducers and a common hardener are designed to work specifically with series. “This allows painters to choose the one that works best for the temperature and humidity of the shop, whether it’s cool, warm or hot,“ adds Jones.
