Veoneer to Manufacture AV Thermal Camera

A Swedish auto technology group announced it won a production contract to manufacture a thermal camera for autonomous vehicles.

Sept. 18, 2019—Veoneer, Swedish auto technology group, has won a production contract with an unidentified carmaker to manufacture a thermal camera for an autonomous vehicle, according to Reuters. 

Veoneer reported the production start was planned for 2021. 

Thermal cameras can enhance the safety of autonomous vehicles because of their unique sensing capabilities. Veoneer has products including radars, vision systems, and advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving software.
