Snap-on Tools won four Professional Tool & Equipment News (PTEN) 2009 Innovation Awards, including taking top honor - 2009 Tool of the Year Award for the Dodge Hub Removal Adapter (DHP1).
The DHP1 was the highest-rated tool by the judges, regardless of category, for its new approach.
PTEN's panel of active and independent technicians, shop owners, mechanics and tool distributors scrutinized all of the nominees and voted Snap-on Tools the best in the following categories:
• Specialty Tools: Dodge Hub Removal Adapter (DHP1), 2009 Tool of the Year
With consumers keeping their vehicles longer, service technicians are going to see more vehicles needing specific service needs. With that in mind, Snap-on developed new tools that are specifically designed to work on Chrysler vehicles, including the Dodge Wheel Hub Removal Adaptor (DHP1). This tool is designed to take off the front hubs found on the 3/4 ton and 1 ton Dodge pickup trucks.
• Power tools - cordless: 3/8" Impact Wrench (CT4410)
Snap-on's CT4410 3/8-inch cordless impact wrench delivers 150 foot-pounds max torque and 230 foot-pounds of bolt breakaway torque, giving techs all the power they need to get the job done faster, resulting in increased productivity.
• Tool storage - carts: Ironhead Tool-Utility Vehicle (KRLR1022PBO)
Ironhead is a new tool utility vehicle (TUV) developed by Snap-on for situations that require mobile heavy duty tool storage. The low profile design makes it ideal for industrial and aviation environments where height restrictions may be of concern.
• Tool storage - toolboxes: EPIQ (KERP763A5PBO)
EPIQ is the first storage unit that's powered to work the way that technicians do. Designed for auto repair in the 21st Century, it's a complete productivity system, bringing together sophisticated diagnostics and cordless tools, with reliable security and Snap-on's heritage of rugged durability.
Snap-on's winning tools and equipment were selected in a very tight race of products that were nominated and listed online and in PTEN's 2009 February and March issues. While all nominees received good marks for innovation from the panel, Snap-on Tools stand out in their winning categories.
"We are truly honored to have received four Innovation Awards this year," says Alicia Smales, vice president of marketing for Snap-on Tools. "We'd like to thank all of the PTEN readers who recognize our tools and equipment for their ability to increase productivity and simplify tasks in the repair bays."
