Polyvance announces new PR-05 Texture Refinishing Course approved for I-CAR Industry Training Alliance

Many plastic parts with damaged textured surfaces are discarded because collision repair shops are not aware that textured plastics can often be successfully repaired and refinished. Polyvance's new PR-05 Texture Refinishing Course seeks to address this need in the industry, by helping shops understand and profit from the repair of textured plastic parts.

The PR-05 Texture Refinishing Course will help shops understand the process and techniques involved in restoring the original appearance of damaged textured plastic surfaces. The course was recently approved by I-CAR for one hour of continuing education credit under their Industry Training Alliance program. Polyvance is a Sustaining Partner of I-CAR. The PR-05 Texture Refinishing Course is a hands-on, instructor-led, structured course provided by trained Polyvance personnel in the customer's shop. Each two-hour session may be attended by up to six technicians. Each student will be required to spray texture material and show proficiency in the technique in order to pass the course.

The course objectives include:

  • Identifying if a part can be retextured
  • Understanding the variables in the texture application process
  • Understanding the proper preparation for texture paint on a raw polypropylene substrate
  • Understanding how to vary the size of the texture grain using product reduction and spray technique
  • Demonstrating the proper use of the spray gun to apply texture paint
