Of a typical 42-gallon barrel of crude oil, only one-half gallon is suitable for lubricating purposes. As such, it takes two barrels of crude to produce one gallon of motor oil. By choosing ECO ULTRA, Superior Honda of Omaha's customers have eliminated the need for more than 4,000 barrels of crude.

ECO ULTRA is an American Petroleum Institute (API) licensed line of automotive and industrial lubricants that rely on used oil as feedstock to its re-refinery that produces top quality sustainable base oil.  ECO ULTRA meets Original Equipment Manufacturers' (OEM) specifications and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) requirements. It's increasingly being selected as the motor oil of choice for a growing number of dealerships across the country.

"The reasons to opt for motor oil made from re-refined base oil are compelling," says Tim Twight, Superior Honda of Omaha's Service Manager. "There's the performance aspect: the quality of a motor oil is determined by the sophistication of the re-refining technology along with its additive package. This means products like ECO ULTRA that undergo a four-step re-refining process and use the best additives available offer the same, if not better, engine protection compared to any traditional name brand. What's more, using ECO ULTRA helps conserve significant amounts of energy, both through a manufacturing process that consumes less energy and by preserving supplies of crude oil for other uses. If that's not compelling enough, we tell our customers that bottom-line, we pick ECO ULTRA for our own cars and trucks."

The U.S. produces approximately 1.1 billion gallons of used motor oil every year.  Approximately 880 million gallons is recovered for re-use, the reminder is unaccounted for, likely disposed of improperly, damaging the environment. The majority of what is recovered is burned as an industrial fuel, leaving approximately 220 million gallons available for re-refining. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) encourages the recovery and re-generation of used oils into recycled products, and lists re-refining as the most preferred environmental option for used motor oil.

Through its Closed Loop Process™, UL completely controls every element in the life cycle of used oil.  It collects, re-refines, blends, packages and redistributes its own oil, including the ECO ULTRA® line -- without ever losing guardianship within the chain -- in an infinitely repeatable, sustainable cycle. UL's process of re-refining altogether requires up to 89 percent less energy than refining crude oil to produce lubricant products.

"Celebrating milestones such as two year anniversaries with our trusted business partners encourages us to reflect on all the advancements our companies have made, together," said John Wesley, Universal Lubricants' chief executive officer. "Two years ago, Superior Honda of Omaha customers hadn't heard of ECO ULTRA, let alone any other motor oil made from a re-refined base. Now, it uses upwards of 300 gallons of ECO ULTRA every month to satisfy customer demand. This is doubly exciting because Superior Honda of Omaha's success story is representative of hundreds more. Automotive dealers, shops, and fleet operators across the country are demanding more than just standard performance; they're demanding performance that makes a difference, and they're choosing ECO ULTRA."
