The University of the Aftermarket's premier executive development experience, Leadership 2.0, is back for a second year. The intensive program is a cornerstone of the aftermarket's efforts to develop the next generation of visionary executives and teach them how to drive the industry to new heights.

This year's program will consist of two, five-day sessions — Sept. 16-21, 2007, and April 13-18, 2008 — at the university's Detroit-area campus. In addition to the weeklong classroom segments, participants will work off-site to develop and present team research projects covering key industry issues. The top two teams will be invited to present their findings during the 2008 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) in Chicago.

"Leadership 2.0 has been a tremendous success in terms of the quality of the participants and the intensity of their discussions concerning the future of the aftermarket," says Jimsey Keith, director of the University of the Aftermarket. "This exciting and challenging experience helps provide a pathway for aftermarket professionals to advance their careers, their organizations' competitive position, and the mission of our entire industry."

Led by Dr. Russell Griffin, a specialist in organizational leadership, communication and conflict management within the automotive industry, the second annual Leadership 2.0 experience will include a blend of industry research and market analysis; discussion and debate of new challenges and competitive strategies; individual skills training in communication, negotiation and conflict management; insight to supply chain solutions and industry merger/acquisition activity; and presentations by a variety of industry leaders.

"Leadership 2.0 provides the knowledge you need to become a true leader, (rather than) a manager, in our industry," says 2006-07 program graduate Michael Schwab, general manager of sales and marketing, NGK Spark Plugs.

Last year's Leadership 2.0 experience was sold out, so aftermarket professionals are encouraged to reserve their seats for the upcoming sessions as soon as possible. To reserve a spot in the 2007-08 Leadership 2.0 class, call (800) 551-2882 or visit the University of the Aftermarket's Web site. Lodging, meals and course materials are included in the program tuition.
