General motors: 2006 Pontiac GTO Subject: On some vehicles, the ignition key cannot be turned to the Lock position, and/or it may require excessive effort to turn the key from Lock to On. The condition may be caused by excessive wear at the detent ramp at the base of the ignition lock barrel housing. The wear turns the ramp into a step that traps the locking pin in place. A new lock housing made of different material and with a different ramp profile is available. The bulletin includes illustrations and repair instructions but, oddly, no part numbers. The retainer is the latch that holds the connector together. A new orange CPA retainer, 54590003, is available as part of the SIR Repair Kit (J-38125-SIR). General Motors: 2005-07 Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana Subject: Inoperative rear air conditioning may be caused by a leaking A/C suction line. The line might be contacting the positive battery cable, which rubs a hole in the line as well as wearing away the cable's insulation. Mazda: 2004-08 Mazda3; 2006-07 Mazda5; Mazdaspeed3 and Mazdaspeed6; 2003-08 Mazda6; and 2006-08 MX-5 and CX-7 Subject: MIL illumination with P0441 indicates incorrect EVAP purge flow and might be caused by a stuck purge solenoid valve. The bulletin indicates a new purge valve has been developed to correct this problem. It includes a long list of affected VINs and part numbers for each model but no diagnostic or repair instructions. Mazda: 2004-09 RX-8 Subject: On some vehicles the coolant level warning light might illuminate even though the coolant level is correct. The bulletin indicates the sensor float may be deteriorated and absorb coolant, causing it to sink. The float was changed during production but it's part of the reservoir tank and cannot be replaced separately. The new reservoir tank, N3H1-15-350L, is now available. VOlvo: All models, all years Subject: Coolant contamination in the automatic transmission fluid will cause drivability problems "long before there are any visual signs of contamination," according to the bulletin. Transmission failures due to coolant contamination are easy to avoid if the leak is discovered early enough. The bulletin includes complete instructions for diagnosing drivability concerns that might be caused by coolant contamination, as well as instructions for using the Test Kit (30783360) that detects coolant in transmission fluid.
