The Salvation Army and three major oil brands – Pennzoil, Quaker State and Shell Rotella T -- are providing consumers an opportunity to help raise funds for charity through the “Change is Good, Giving is Better” promotion.

The promotion started with $100,000 for The Salvation Army as the first step toward a goal of raising up to the maximum of $300,000. Consumers who purchase or have their oil changed using one of these brands’ conventional motor oils can help The Salvation Army’s good works. With each valid redemption, The Salvation Army gets $1 and consumers receive a $6 rebate for themselves.

“We are proud to initiate this fund-raising effort to help The Salvation Army continue its important works during these challenging economic times," says Luis Guimaraes, Shell Lubricants general manager, North American Marketing. "By offering consumers a cash rebate on their next motor oil purchase or oil change, consumers can help raise much-needed funds for The Salvation Army during this holiday season.”

Consumers qualify for the rebate by mail with the purchase of a Pennzoil®, Quaker State® or Shell Rotella® T conventional motor oil change or a purchase of five quarts of Pennzoil®, Quaker State® or two gallons of Shell Rotella® T conventional motor oil. The offer is valid until a maximum of $300,000 is raised for The Salvation Army or Dec. 31, whichever comes first.  The promotion runs in every state except Rhode Island.

Consumers can track the progress toward filling The Salvation Army’s kettle by visiting www.changeisgoodgivingisbetter.com. The Web site also has the terms and conditions and redemption information. Information is also available at select retailer and installer locations; by calling (866) 707-6737, and on the brand Web sites: www.pennzoil.com, www.quakerstate.com and www.rotella.com or www.salvationarmyusa.org.
