The Coordinating Committee For Automotive Repair (CCAR) has expanded its S/P2 e-learning program to include the “Hybrid Electric Vehicle Safety” module. The new module is designed to promote awareness of regulations and safety procedures for repairing hybrid electric vehicles.

  • CCAR teams up with SkillsUSA for third year in a row

The module covers Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations relating to hybrid vehicle safety, personal protection equipment and training. It also outlines proper safety procedures to minimize the risk of shock or electrocution to hybrid electric vehicle service technicians.

The new module is available at no additional cost to users of three versions of the S/P2 “Safety” course: S/P2 for Mechanical Service, S/P2 for Collision Repair, and S/P2 for Heavy-Duty Fleets.

“Awareness of safety issues surrounding hybrid electric vehicles is vital as the population of these vehicles grows every month,” says Daren Fristoe, CCAR President and Chief Operating Officer. "This latest module is another example of how S/P2 continues to evolve with the needs of our audience in the vehicle service community.”

S/P2 is an e-learning program developed by CCAR to address key safety and pollution prevention issues for automotive repair professionals. The training is based on U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, which require that personnel be trained on safety and environmental regulations at the beginning of their employment, and at least annually thereafter.
