STRONGSVILLE, Ohio – Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL), a global provider of vehicle factory-to-dealer integrated logistics solutions, has selected PPG’s Envirobase High Performance basecoat to convert its nine Americas region vehicle processing centers from a solvent to a waterborne paint system. The centers are located throughout North America at WWL operations and are equipped for vehicle services such as upgrades, body and paint repair and accessory installation.
“WWL is continuously striving to minimize its impact on the environment. We have worked with PPG since 1990 and the conversion to Envirobase HP waterborne basecoat is the right thing to do. I value PPG as a loyal WWL partner and look forward to continuing our relationship with PPG,” says Greg Harrison, WWL Vehicle Services Americas, Inc., vice president of plant operations.
Waterborne basecoat technology is typically used by manufacturers to create the original color on today’s vehicles. According to PPG, the use of its waterborne color toners in collision repair centers provides the enhanced ability to match a vehicle’s original finish.
In addition, PPG says using Envirobase High Performance for refinishing vehicles helps improve air quality by significantly reducing the amount of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released into the atmosphere.
PPG will immediately begin to implement the steps toward waterborne conversion.
