Michelin's line of Earthmover tires has scooped up two 2011 "Top 100" Awards from Construction Equipment magazine for its XDR2 and XHA2 offerings. The two tires are highlighted in the publication's December issue.

“Construction Equipment is a well- respected, top publication in the construction industry,” says Bruce Besancon, director of marketing. “Recognizing the XDR2 and XHA2 tires with these awards affirms the value that these tires provide to the end-user.”

He goes on to report that “the awards bring special attention to the most significant products each year and emphasize innovations,” featuring manufacturers that maintain a pattern of investing in research and development.

The winners were chosen by the editorial staff from several hundred product introductions, drawing on input from readers and the publication’s experience with equipment technology and the equipment marketplace.

The XDR2 haul truck tire offers up to 20 percent more tread life than its predecessor, the XDR tire, according to Besancon. Introduced at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in March, the XDR2 is available in size 27R49 size. Additional sizes will be available in 2012.

The XHA2 loader tire is designed to accomplish three goals; reduce hourly operating costs, ensure that work continues smoothly and safely and improve operator working conditions, he continues. It is intended for loaders in quarries, cement plants and on construction worksites, with availability in 20.5R25, 23.5R25, 26.5R25 and 29.5R25 sizes.
