Toyo will continue as the Official Tire of the
National Auto Sport Association (NASA) through
2015.
Having had a long association with the circuit,
the Proxes RA1 first became the specified tire
for select racing classes in 2002.
In addition, Toyo returns as the title sponsor of
the NASA Championships at the Mid Ohio Sports Car
Course in Lexington.
The tire maker will also increase the payouts in
its NASA contingency program, which has been
considered one of the most lucrative in amateur
road racing, according to Stan Chen, manager of
events and motorsports.
Drivers in 13 different spec classes as well as
time trial and non-Toyo spec classes are eligible
to earn Toyo Bucks when they win on the company’s
tires.
“We are delighted to renew our partnership with
Toyo Tires for several more years,” says Ryan
Flaherty, NASA’s national chairman.
“They have been an incredible partner for more
than a decade and we have found their product to
be a perfect fit for many of our most popular
classes,” he notes.

“We have worked very hard to offer the most
lucrative contingency program available to
grassroots racers,” Flaherty adds, “and with more
than $2 million up for grabs, Toyo Tires proves
they are 100 percent committed to NASA
racers.”
“Toyo Tires is proud to support NASA and the
amateur racers who put their cars through the
paces every weekend,” says Chen.
“NASA provides a great platform which offers
everything from high performance driving events,
to time trial and wheel-to-wheel competition with
a wide variety of car classes,” he reports. “With
our extensive tire lineup, we have the products
to match.”
Toyo’s street legal tires that are ideal for
competition include the r-compound Proxes R888,
the Proxes RA1 and the 140-treadwear Proxes R1R,
according to Chen. The company also offers light
truck tires for tow vehicles.
