Roush
Performance is entering two production 2012 Roush
vehicles in this year’s
Tire Rack One Lap of America
competition.
Drivers include Jack Roush Jr. and Billy Johnson,
who most recently have been competing in the No.61 Roush
Performance Ford Mustang, finishing in the top five in
every race except one.
“Roush is excited about entering the One Lap to prove the
upcoming 2012 vehicles,” says Roush Jr. “I consider the
One Lap as being the perfect venue to showcase our new
lineup’s ability to be driven to a track, put through the
paces, and driven back home,” he adds.
“The One Lap’s format of ‘Race, Run and Re-do’ is
congruent with the Roush Performance philosophy. Billy and
I are looking forward to personally proving the 2012
vehicles’ capabilities,” Roush reports.
In addition to the official entries, Roush will be
partnering with One Lap and Rosenthal Media by providing a
press vehicle for the event. It will be highly visible and
used to follow the action and provide real-time
updates.
The Tire Rack One Lap of America is a
motorsports contest run exclusively on private, closed
courses. The event will run from April 30 through May 7.
It consists of 18 stages conducted at 10 tracks and
traveling more than 3,500 miles.
It was the legendary Brock Yates who created the infamous
Cannonball Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy in the
1970s. The current edition is headed by Brock Yates Jr.
and this year’s festivities will be the 28th annual
running of the event.
